Hormonal Health

When it comes to health, hormones have a much more important role than many people realize.  Hormones are involved in important bodily functions such as our metabolism, mood, growth and development of cells, endocrine glands, reproduction, sexual health, and our body’s natural balance. It is important to make sure our bodies are in total balance in body, mind and spirit.

While men and women both face hormonal challenges, women typically face more emotional and physical changes in their lives due to hormones.  Everybody’s symptoms can vary.  For example, one woman might have really bad acne, another one has cramps that keep her home from work, while another has extreme moods swings.  Do you have weight gain, fatigue, trouble sleeping, PMS, endometriosis, infertility, PCOS or other issues?  If so, chances are your hormones are imbalanced!

Most people think that a woman doesn’t experience intense hormonal shifts until she reaches menopause, which is very far from the truth. I went to my doctor 2 year ago to see if all my hormones were normal because I had been dealing with severe PMS since the time I was twelve.  Not only did I have many of the symptoms of hormone imbalance, but it also seemed almost impossible to lose weight no matter how hard I dieted or worked out.

After visiting my doctor, my blood work showed that I was estrogen dominant.  This explained why it was hard for me to lose weight, had bad pms, and This a very common condition among women.   The only real solution she had for me was to start taking the birth control pill, which was not a good option for me.  I was uneducated about what I could do to feel better so I just thought my hormone imbalance was something I had to live with forever.  It was over a year ago that I discovered the Ageless Me Clinic, which is an innovative resource for people who seek to maximize their health and vitality.  I went to see th Dr. there who specializes in hormone therapy.  He set me up on some great supplements along with some hormone therapy to get my body back into balance.  Over the past several months I have noticed a huge change and feel way better!  I still see Dr. Fergani and and highly recommend him to all my clients and friends.  If you are interested in getting your hormones checked I encourage you to contact Tracy the Ageless Living Wellness Center for a consultation at 250-590-5787.

Furthermore, if you're struggling with your own hormonal balance, there are definitely things that you can do to reduce the symptoms.  First of all, proper nutrition is essential.  Making sure you are eating small frequent meals with a balance of protein, carbs, fibre, and fat. NO JUNK FOOD!   Are you getting enough sleep?  I can’t emphasize this one enough!  Plain and simple, if you aren’t getting enough rest, your hormones won’t be balanced.  Lastly, make sure you exercise and that that you SWEAT!  Exercise is so beneficial, however, if your hormones are imbalanced you will want to stick with lower impact exercise such as walking, swimming, yoga and strength training.

I have worked with Shannon for the past year and seen fantastic results. My only complaint about working with her would be “why didn’t I do this sooner?!” Working with Shannon will be the best investment you could ever make in yourself.
